Why this is being built in the open.

Too many small hosting providers depend on software they cannot afford, cannot inspect or cannot safely update. An open platform does not solve every problem, but it gives providers a cleaner starting point: visible code, shared development and control over where their data runs.

On modified commercial software

Modified commercial software can remove licensing checks, but it also removes any reliable way to know what else changed. Updates become risky, security fixes arrive late, and the operator has no trustworthy source for the code actually running on their servers. QuroPanel aims to be a legal, inspectable alternative rather than another hidden patch.

The licence

The intended structure is AGPL-3.0 for the control plane and agent, permissive licences for SDKs and client libraries, and Creative Commons for documentation. This is being reviewed with a specialist before release, and nothing is final until it is published here.

How the project would be funded

Managed hosting, installation and migration services, security hardening, priority support, certified extensions and training — none of which require removing features from the self-hosted edition.
